Swiatek Stuns Osaka In French Open Comeback Thriller

Swiatek Stuns Osaka in French Open Comeback Thriller

The French Open is underway, and it's already produced one of the most thrilling matches of the tournament.

Iga Swiatek, the world number one and three-time French Open champion, saved a match point to come back and beat Naomi Osaka in the second round.

Swiatek is most prolific on her preferred surface of clay and the French Open. She has won the tournament three times in the past four years. Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam champion, was looking to make a deep run in Paris after winning the Australian Open earlier this year.

The match was a back-and-forth affair, with both players trading breaks. Swiatek saved a set point in the first set before forcing a tiebreak that she won comfortably. Osaka broke back in the second set, but Swiatek ultimately prevailed, winning 7-5, 6-4.

The victory was a huge relief for Swiatek, who had been struggling with her form in recent months. She will next face Danka Kovinic of Montenegro in the third round.
